Philippe Jaroussky, A High Voice

Philippe Jaroussky, a counter-tenor, was named “Lyric Artist of the Year” at the 2009 MIDEM Classical Awards. At thirty, he is the youngest promising talent in baroque music. This documentary includes excerpts of performances and interviews, filmed in a former monastery in Picardy, which reveal this inventive, demanding and warm singer, with a program built on contrasts: Handel exalted voice danger and put the castrati of Venice and Naples into the spotlight, as well as Italian songs from the 17th century. The singer is particularly well-known for the subtlety of his tone.
