Fifty years ago, Jean-Luc Godard transformed cinema with “A Bout de Souffle”, closely followed by “Le Petit Soldat”, “Vivre sa vie”, “Le Mépris” and “Pierrot le Fou”. These films were largely inspired by American cinema and would in turn influence contemporary American cinema from the 1950s to the present day.
This documentary reveals the secret and unexpected bond between Godard and America through a journey to the United States and a dozen interviews (Robert Benton, Arthur Penn, William Friedkin, DA Pennebaker, Jerry Schatzberg, Peter Bogdanovich, Monte Hellman, Brian De Palma, Paul Schrader, James Gray, etc.).
