The score of the 18th century opera buffa “Capricciosa Coretta” by the forgotten composer Vicente Martín y Soler (1754-1806), was rediscovered by Christophe Rousset, who decided to edit and conduct it with his group of instruments. The plot centers on Ciprigna, the second wife of Bonario, who rules her household with an iron fist. Her husband, children and servants, exasperated by her capricious decisions contrive a ruse to expose her to ridicule and put her back in her place. The opera ends with everyone happily pursuing their own goals.
The performance is outstanding. The production work by C. Rousset is probably the best that will be done for a long time. A fantastic find for a 5 star film!
